About

Dr. Eric Taris earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology and human performance from Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, where he was also a member of the football team. Inspired by a teammate whose hand was successfully reconstructed after a devastating injury, Dr. Taris decided to pursue a career dedicated to restoring hand function and improving patients' quality of life. He went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City. He completed advanced fellowship training in hand surgery at Kettering Health in Dayton, Ohio, where he developed specialized expertise in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of complex hand, wrist, and upper extremity conditions. In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Taris has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications.

As a fellowship-trained orthopedic hand surgeon, Dr. Taris specializes in the care of hand, wrist, and upper extremity conditions. He provides personalized treatment for fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, cubital tunnel syndrome, De Quervain's tenosynovitis, and other conditions affecting function and mobility. He is also experienced in advanced techniques, including wide-awake local anesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT) surgery, with a focus on helping patients return to the activities they enjoy most.

Dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized care, Dr. Taris understands the important role our hands play in nearly every aspect of daily life. Whether treatment is surgical or nonsurgical, his goal is to help every patient regain function and confidently return to the activities that matter most.

Outside of work, Dr. Taris enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, kayaking, working out, cooking, traveling to national parks, following college football, and staying active outdoors.

Available to see patients at our Johnson City location, Dr. Taris is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care.
