Dr. Meredith Neal received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He joined the Navy, where he earned a Master of Science in Engineering Science degree from the Naval Postgraduate School. After working as a nuclear reactors engineer supporting submarines and aircraft carriers, Dr. Neal realized his true passion was medicine. Dr. Neal returned to his home state of New Mexico, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Continuing his naval career, he completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. Dr. Neal spent nine years as an orthopedic surgeon in the Navy, serving in Europe and Japan. After completing his naval career, Dr. Neal elected to pursue an adult reconstruction fellowship with the esteemed Dr. Morrison and Dr. Dabezies at Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola, Florida, where he focused on robotic joint replacement and revision joint replacement.  

As a specialty-trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Neal offers high-quality care for different areas of the body including the ankle, hand, hip, knee, shoulder, and wrist as well as care for fractures and sports-related injuries. Utilizing his expert training, Dr. Neal specializes in hip and knee replacement and revision treatments.

Dr. Neal is a proud member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Excited to serve the community of East Tennessee, Dr. Neal brings compassionate care and a commitment to excellence. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two children.
