My Comeback Story: Brenda J.

Brenda's Comeback Story
My Hip Replacement Journey with Dr. Lyle Whitman

For a while, I kept putting off dealing with my hip discomfort — until I finally couldn't anymore. Dr. Lisle Whitman was recommended to me as an orthopedic surgeon, and I'm glad I trusted that recommendation. At my first appointment, Dr. Whitman ordered an X-ray and took the time to walk me through my options. I appreciated that he didn't immediately push hip replacement. He presented two alternative options first, which showed me he wasn't taking a one-size-fits-all approach. After weighing everything, I concluded that the other options would only delay the inevitable, and I chose to move forward with the replacement. My outpatient surgery went very smoothly. I was provided thorough, clear instructions both before and after the procedure, which gave me confidence every step of the way. Recovery, as with any surgery, was a process — but it was a manageable one. Dr. Whitman had given me a realistic timeline for returning to my normal activities, and it turned out to be remarkably accurate. Getting back to walking and cycling happened right on schedule. Looking back, I feel fortunate to have been in such capable hands. If you are facing hip issues and considering your options, I would not hesitate to recommend Appalachian Orthopedics & Nuerosurgery and Dr. Lisle Whitman.
