Dr. Eric Taris to Join Appalachian Orthopedics & Neurosurgery

Eric Taris, D.O., a fellowship-trained orthopedic hand surgeon, is joining the team of specialists at Appalachian Orthopedics & Neurosurgery. Starting in September 2026, Dr. Taris will be available to see patients at the practice's Johnson City office, located at 3 Professional Park Drive, Suite 21. Using his advanced training in hand and upper extremity surgery, Dr. Taris specializes in evaluating, diagnosing and treating a wide range of injuries and conditions affecting the hand, wrist and arm. He offers both surgical and nonsurgical treatment options and specializes in the following:

  • Hand and wrist pain and injuries.
  • Wide awake local anesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT) surgery.
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Trigger finger.
  • Cubital tunnel syndrome.
  • De Quervain’s tenosynovitis.
  • Nerve repair.
  • Tendon injury repair.
  • Elbow pain and injuries
  • Shoulder pain and injuries.

Dr. Taris earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, followed by a hand surgery fellowship at Kettering Health in Dayton, Ohio.

As a hand surgeon, Dr. Taris is passionate about helping patients regain function and return to the activities they enjoy most. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and has participated in clinical research and presentations focused on hand surgery and orthopedic outcomes.
